First Day of School for Ninjanimals Kidz

by Rachel on September 2, 2010

Hi everyone! I wanted to share the following photo album page with all of you. Now that n-kidzschools.com is on the recommended websites for Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS), I feel like my Kidz started school too!

So here is a scrapbook page showing their first day of school – August 30th, 2010. I had fun decorating it and of course sharing it.

The First Day at West Valley Elementary School Went Smoothly

These illustrations are from the Ninjanimals Kidz stories, but seemed appropriate for today.

(Gosh it would be a lot easier to type if Little Minnie, my tuxedo cat, wasn’t sleeping with her head and neck on my right hand! Oh good she just moved.)

Mad Dash to the Finish Line

by Rachel on August 29, 2010

The past few weeks have been super overloaded with website and story work. And it has all culminated with this weekend! I have finally gotten all the Word Games posted on the n-kidzschools.com site for all the stories. I was pretty much irked by the fact that I hadn’t posted the Word Games for the last five stories and so now, yeah!, finally got that done.

Word Games now completed for the past 5 stories!

Word Games Completed for the Last Five Stories

Talk about slaving this weekend! I worked all day Friday, Saturday, and and most of Sunday on this. It’s hard to sit at the computer working when the weather is so amazing and I can’t go outside. But hopefully I will recover with a decent night’s sleep, and feel amazing tomorrow.

Mainly it all worked out well, and I think the 2nd Word Games page looks pretty good. Working on the images for the 2nd Word Games page worked out well. And on the mazes also, as I also like to add illustrations to each of them.

I was grateful and expressing gratitude throughout, and I think that does make a difference. As long as it took me to get this done, this is a major item crossed off my list as my website/s become further completed and filled out.

Also worked on the Grammar fixes. I have gotten 5 of the stories completed and posted those updates in the Ninjanimals Kidz for Schools website. So will complete the remaining 4 in the next week or so. At least I’m over the hump with this as all the Word Docs have been updated already. Now just need to put them into the Story Templates.

Making YouTube Safe for Children

July 31, 2010

A lot of parents don’t actually know that their young children are accessing YouTube and being exposed to all sorts of videos which are beyond them. YouTube itself is not supposed to be accessed by minors, and YouTube has rules stating their position. Yet any child with an available computer, and a bit of savy [...]

English Teacher Who Wields Her Red Pen Like a Sword!

July 27, 2010

Since I have been writing the N-Kidz stories I have had various doubts on the correctness of my punctuation and grammar. So I decided that I should work with a professional writing teacher and have my writing reviewed for appropriateness for Elementary School children. With this in mind, a few weeks ago I placed an [...]

Announcing the Launch of Two New Websites

July 21, 2010

I am happy to announce that two new websites – the Ninjanimals Kidz Stories website and the Ninjanimals Kidz for Schools website are completed and launched. I’m really pleased with these two sites and hope that having a “school-safe” site will allow children to access and read the stories at school. So I removed the [...]

Ask and You Shall Receive is NO JOKE!

July 20, 2010

A little over a month ago I drew and posted a dramatic little picture of what I look like overwhelmed. Called the post Being Pulled in a Dozen Directions All these Arrows of Ideas and Obligations were coming out of my head. Plus I looked like I was holding my head in exasperation. Like “What [...]

Does This Make Me a Dummy?

June 6, 2010

I was looking at some photographs I had taken this past winter of my cat, Little Minnie, huddled on top of the Verizon cable box for warmth. Poor baby! She had jumped to the shelf below to show off and get some warmth from the vent which heats up this spot. I saw a lot [...]

The Story of Bixie and Tiki

May 31, 2010

The Story of Bixie and Tiki is coming along great! Hatem has provided the initial sketches and I approved all of them. Only a few minor adjustments. I can’t wait to get the illustrations for this. Of course I better get cracking and get the story written on the three reading levels too. It’s time [...]

Interesting Coincidence

May 29, 2010

Okay. I’m still trying to figure out this whole blogging thing. Such as not sure what to write about, not sure if anything is even interesting. Plus I’m still trying to develop good blogging habits – which means posting regularly, and keeping images and text posted at nearly the same time – all 3 being [...]
